We've finished off our storyboards today.
At the same time Mr Ari, our mentor, gave us our first assignment:
Create a rocket generator digital asset.
It was fun and an interesting assignment to start with. I applied several techniques I knew back in the previous project. Don't have the file now though, I'll post them up when my laptop has houdini on it. We're not really allowed to take photos in the studio for.. you know.. top secret confidential purposes?
Alright anyway I presented my idea to Mr Ari and he liked it!
Oh by the way the reason why this project is called operation hellfire is because hellfire is the name of the special missiles armed on Apache fighter helicopters. So I just implemented hellfire in front of operation for fun.
Here's the storyboard:
I'd like to put this whole sequence into 1 shot. Hopefully I don't have to make any cuts.
I don't really mind if I have to though.
Just that it would be more awesome if it's 1 whole continuous shot.
1) Introductory shot. Camera tracks forward on the ground.
2) Camera still tracking. Title fades in: OPERATION HELLFIRE
3) Camera tracking slows down and pans upwards viewing overall territory.
4) A pair of Apaches fly past cameras from above. Camera shake added for dramatic effect.
5) Camera follows an Apache from above. (Slightly similar to "over the shoulder" shot)
Moving hostile vehicles targetted in a distance.
6) Apache that is being followed by camera opens fire on hostile vehicles. Hellfire missiles and machine gun bullets are fired upon the vehicles.
7) Apache finishing up remaining stranglers.
After this part, the simplified version of this idea would stop here, where the pair of apaches will fly off after accomplishing their mission.
However in the longer version (which has been rejected because it is predicted to be too intense), here's what happens:
8) Apaches turn around and prepare to make their second attack run. Anti-Air turrets are spotted in a distance.
9) Camera continues pannng towards the right, zooms in to get a closer view of the SAM-sites while entering slow-motion.
10) Camera zooms back out, slow-motion slowly disables while heat seeking missiles are seen shooting out of sam-sites from afar.
11) Missiles hit and destroy the apache behind while the apache in front attempts to dodge missiles flying across them everywhere. Whole scene is in chaos.
12) Missiles finally hit surviving apache in the tail. Apache spins out of control and hits the camera and end the sequence with a sudden blackout.
